You can’t have a spring week and not cover off on spring cleaning and organization. You just can’t. So here, we are. I’m sharing of some of my favorite products, tips and I also have a challenge below to hold all us lazy bitches accountable. I’ll be doing the challenge in April so be sure to join me!
April 2021 is the perfect time to start this challenge. 1. There are 30 days in April 2. Some of the bigger cleaning tasks align with weekends in April. #noexcuses
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
When it comes to organization, don’t be afraid to think out of the box and use pieces in other areas of the home than their intended us. For example, these bins have so many uses beyond just shoes.

HELPFUL TIPS + TRICKS
EXPIRED MAKEUP
Take the time to go through your makeup bag and throw out anything old or expired. Yes, makeup expires, and that goes for all your samples too. You can read about makeup expiration dates here.
SANITIZE YOUR MAKEUP + BRUSHES
Once you purge your makeup, sanitize what you’re keeping. Read how to deep clean your makeup.
RULES FOR CLOTHING
I know it can be difficult to part with clothing, especially if there is sentimential value, but you really should only hang onto things that are serving a purpose, IMO. When deciding whether to keep something, ask yourself these questions:
- Does it have holes or stains? If yes, immediately throw out. It makes you look unprofessional and sloppy.
- Can you think of how you’d style it right now? If you can’t picture how to style it, you’re never going to reach for it, so it’s time to part ways.
- Does it fit? Trust me, I get it. Everyone (myself included!) holds onto a few pairs of jeans that they’ve outgrown in hopes that one day they will fit again. Here’s my take… If they’re a size too small and it’s REASONABLE that it will fit soon, then keep it. And if you’re you’re working towards a weight-loss goal, maybe keep one of something to track your accomplishments, but why sit there with a closet full of clothes that don’t fit? It personally makes me sad to look at the things I can’t fit into, ya know? Get rid of the unhappy vibes to make room for pieces that you’ll actually wear, and that make you feel good!
SOCKS/UNDIES
Throw out pairs with holes, stains or that are stretched out. Also, if you’re short on sock space, take out your cozy winter pairs so you can easily grab the lighter pairs for summer.
“WASHING” YOUR BED
Your mattress needs some love too so, go beyond just cleaning your sheets and bedding. Strip your bed of everything. Then, mix baking soda and lavender essential oil together and sprinkle it over your mattress. Let it sit for about an hour, and then vacuum it off. You can also take this one step further by flipping your mattress.
JEWELRY
It’s time to say goodbye to any pieces that are tarnished or broken. Also, if you’re missing the other earring, there’s no point in keeping.
DRAWER REFRESHER
Keep your laundry smelling fresh by putting dryer sheets in your drawers. Or add some Downy Unstoppables to a mesh bag and toss them in. You can also do this with the perfume samples that are in magazines.
SHOES
No matter how expensive the shoes were, if they have chunks missing from the heels, or scuff marks that can’t be removed, it’s time to get rid of them. Everyone looks at shoes, and it’s a dead giveaway that can make an outfit look, well… cheap. Throw away any shoe boxes you aren’t using. These take up so much space.
