You know how it goes. As soon as the cold weather starts creeping in, so does dry skin and hair. Luckily there are a few steps you can take to prevent the cold, dry winter from ruining your beauty routine.

Silk Pillow Cases
Silk pillow cases are great for your skin and hair. They help prevent frizz, which increases when the hair is dry. Silk is also a less absorbent material compared to cotton, so it won’t absorb the moisture in your skin. If you don’t want to try silk, you can try satin.
Switch to Thicker Moisturizers
In the fall and winter months, I switch up my skin and body care. The same products that work in 90 degree weather aren’t going to also work in below freezing temps. Instead of lighter serums and oils, go for richer creams.

Dryer Sheets
When hair gets dry, it can cause static. A mistake a lot of people make is adding hairspray to try and tame the static. However, the alcohol in the hairspray actually makes it worse. Humidifier
Adding a humidifier to your bedroom will help add moisture back into the air, which will in turn help keep your hair and skin hydrated. It also helps remove static in the air. If you have pets, I recommend one that blows cool air, like the one I have, over hot air.
Avoid Extra Hot Water
When the temps get cold, most people turn up the water temps in the shower and bath. However, hot water dehydrates your hair and skin. So, instead go for warm instead of hot, and don’t stay in too long!
